THE WORDWHEEL GUIDE
How to play Wordwheel
Make words from a ring of letters. Find enough valid words to finish the goal, then keep exploring or move to the next puzzle.

The rules, at a glance
- Make an English word with at least three letters.
- Include the highlighted required letter in every word.
- Use each tile at most once per word. A repeated letter needs a separate tile.
- Find the number of words shown above the wheel. Later levels also ask for a word of a minimum length.
Any word in the game’s dictionary that fits these rules counts. You do not need to guess a secret list or solve the suggested clues.
Swipe, tap, or type
Swipe: start on a letter, trace the letters in order, and lift to check. You can cross the empty centre. Crossing a selected tile again does not remove it.
Tap: select letters one at a time, then choose Check word. Use the backspace button to remove the last letter.
Keyboard: type your word and press Enter in the word field. Backspace removes a letter; Escape clears the word. You can also Tab to tile buttons and activate them with Enter or Space.
An example from level one
On the starting wheel, try STAR: select S → T → A → R. It uses the required A, has more than three letters, and uses each tile once. Try rearranging those same letters to find another word. Finding a word twice does not increase your total.
Clues help without choosing your answers
Definition clues are always visible. Patterns such as R––E show a possible word. You have three letter reveals shared across each puzzle session; reloading does not replenish them. At least one blank always remains. You can ignore the suggestions and find other valid words.
A few ways to get unstuck
- Start with three-letter words containing the required letter.
- Shuffle the wheel to see familiar combinations in a different order.
- Try rearranging the letters of a word you already found.
- For longer-word goals, look for endings that fit the actual tiles. A plural counts only if it is in the dictionary.
Journey and daily play
Journey has 30 levels with increasingly large wheels and longer-word goals. Relaxed, Adaptive, and Challenge settings adjust goals for newly started journey levels. Daily play uses a shared board and goal for each UTC date, changing at midnight UTC. Daily boards rotate from the existing collection and may repeat.
