Wheel answers
- POWER
- The rate at which energy is transferred or work is done.
- WIRE
- A slender length of metal, often used as an electrical conductor.
- WORK
- Energy transferred by a force acting through a displacement.
- RISE
- The vertical change between two points.
Discussion notes
Both motors do the same lifting work under these assumptions. Motor A has twice the average power because it does that work in half the time. A wire is a physical conductor, not a quantity of energy or power.
Ask a partner to underline the time comparison. If an answer says “twice the work,” revisit the difference between an amount of transferred energy and its rate of transfer.
